The local march started at the Art Gallery discount herve leger of Windsor and went east on Riverside Drive, turning south on Ouellette Avenue and ending at Phog Lounge on University Avenue West.
Lafreniere’s six-year-old son Branden Blackton held a sign reading “What part of no don’t you understand.” Another sign said: “My dress is not a yes.”
“I wanted my children here so they grow up knowing that there are things in the world you can’t do and shouldn’t do,” Lafreniere said.
The art gallery extended its opening hours over the weekend to cater for last-minute visitors.
Ms Quinlan said people had taken advantage of the extended cheap herve leger dress opening hours, with both visitors and Bendigo residents trickling into the gallery until 8pm last night.
“We passed The Golden Age of Couture exhibition by about 1000,’’ she said.
“I’m still working on the exact figures, but we definitely passed 76,000.’’
Ms Quinlan said the past three months had been intense for gallery staff.
“It’s been a terrific exhibition and we’ve had really positive feedback and a great response from our community and the wider community,’’ she said.
The gallery now turns its attention to its next major herve leger red attraction, Grace Kelly: Style Icon, which starts on March 11.
Ms Quinlan expects the exhibition to attract just as much as attention as The White Wedding Dress.
“White wedding attracted a lot of women; I think that Grace Kelly will attract more a mix,’’ she said.
Until then, the gallery will host two small exhibitions, the first from textile artist Michael O’Connor called Lost Modernists. A photographic exhibition, Made in Hollywood, will follow.
The event was presented by Gucci and held at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art in L.A. on Saturday night, where the director and artist were honored for their career achievements in art and film.
