The key silhouettes are drawn from herve leger skirts and dresses

The last event that threw a spanner in the herve leger sunset ombre dress sartorial works was a charity event I was involved in. It was a trivia night at a Chinese restaurant. I can't tell you how many “what are you wearing?” emails I received. On this one, I was torn. Not formal, not casual, I could find no precedent. Normally I would go through the fashion history file in my head and say, “This is what Jackie Onassis wore at that BBQ in Hyannis Port” or, “If it’s after 3pm on the lawn and there will be cocktails served, then I think that a tea dress would be in order”.
Anyone who is set to be in a bridal party this year is probably cursing Pippa Middleton. Despite breaking what used to be the first rule, don't wear the same colour as the bride, and coming close to breaking the second, don't steal the bride's spotlight, Pippa has become a media and public favourite, and set herve leger scoop neck dress the bar high for this year's bridesmaids.
Although it hasn't generally been a popular strategy in the past, putting your bridesmaids in the same colour as your own wedding gown looks stunning in photos, especially when they are taken in black and white. The key is to make sure the bride's dress makes a big enough statement that there is never going to be any confusion about which member of the bridal party is the one tying the knot.
I'm always of the opinion that if there is a boat, or even a glimpse of water at an event, a stripe should be involved. I also think people should dress up for air travel. I love those older couples on planes who wear navy blazers and linen pants and expensive loafers.
Dressing to suit an occasion affords it, and the host, a sense of respect. That's why I find shorts in an office, leather pants on a yacht, skank herve leger cap sleeve dress dresses at the polo and jeans at the opera so disappointing. Why ignore such a lovely chance to star in your own movie? The jury's still out on trivia night though…
Red is key, found on a variety of berry tones, from darker plum, through to raspberry and cherry. Cobalt blue, teal and emerald green also add to a jewel box of colours which shimmer in sateen, and shine in patent snakeskin accessories.
Masculine tuxedo blazers offer an alternative winter cover up, with contrasting lapels to reflect the androgynous feel of the A/W 2011 season. The overall experience is a glamorous, rock inspired party collection, to bring in the New Year in style.

When their numbers were called, the brides had 30 minutes to try on as many gowns as they wanted. Poffie Girls bridal consultants and seamstresses volunteered to work.
Only a few of the 43 needed altering, shop owner Latta said.
"I guess it was destined to be a perfect day," she said.
So perfect that many of the brides, including Amanda Hazelett, 31, of Battle Creek, Mich., didn't want to leave.
Hazelett was bride No. 4. After getting her gown, she asked Poffie Girls if they needed help.
They didn't, but Hazelett stayed and cheered on the other brides as they left with their gowns in pink hanging bags. She is married to David Kane, a Marine corpsman based at Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville. They met in Battle Creek in high school, and struck up a romance while Kane was deployed to Iraq in 2008.
They were married by a justice of the peace so they could live together off-base with Kane's daughter from a previous marriage. They're planning a wedding in Battle Creek in August."I'm ahead of the game. I've got my gown. I've got a veil and shoes and a cocktail dress," Hazelett said. "Thanks to Poffie Girls, I'm set."
